ANAL FISSURE
An anal fissure is a cut or tear in the lining of the anus.
Patients with anal fissures experience sever pain and burning sensation
during and after defecation. Bearing sensation of anal region after passing
Stool.
At times, Anal Fissure may bleed a bit along with stool.
CAUSES OF ANAL FISSURE:
- Irregular bowel habits and straining at stools (Because of lack of fiber in diet)

Sphincterotomy
1. This surgical procedure involves stretching or cutting the internal sphincter,
the muscle that restricts and relaxes when stool passes form the body.
This reliefs a patient form Spasm and in turn helps the area to heal.
Sphincterotomy simply means during the sphincter. IT is casually performed
under a general anesthetic and usually takes about a quarter of an hour. A
small cut in the lower part of the internal sphincter muscle is made. This will
relieve the spasm in the sphincter, allowing healing of the fissure.
Laser Treatment for Fissure:
This is a minimally invasive treatment for severe anal spasm in cases of
chronic anal fissures. In this particular laser surgery healing time is very less
with no scar formation. Laser is used to perform internal sphincterotomy. The
chronic fibrosed scar of fissure ulcer is divided with the laser. There is no loss
of blood, it is less painful and day care procedure. Recovery is very quick
after laser.
